THERESA
HAMILTON, Head Coach, City of Santa Fe SealsTheresa has been coaching the City of Santa Fe Seals for the past 16 years. Her career in coaching started as assistant coach at Santa Fe High School. While working as a pool manager in one of the local pools, her supervisor asked her to coach the Seals, because he could see her love of coaching with the high school team and knew that she was probably going to be around for a while.
Theresa's favorite part of coaching is the kids, "they are like my family", she says. She says that she likes knowing that the majority of the kids are doing something that they like to do, and not just what their parents want them to do.
Theresa says that the hardest part of coaching is coaching the kids, some for 6 years, and then having to say goodbye to them when they go off to college.
Theresa has coached two Junior National Champions: Karissa Lopez and Stephen Darmitzel.
Theresa graduated from Santa Fe High School (way back when) and attended the University of New Mexico. Theresa has earned American Swim Coaches Association , Level 3 Certification, National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association Certification, Life Guarding and Water Safety Instructor Certification and was chosen Age Group Coach of the Year in 1994.
When she is not coaching Theresa says that she enjoys playing softball, volleyball, swimming, Girls Day Out, boating and just hanging out in the sun with her husband and daughter..
